Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Folk Choir! We welcome all students from Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College, and Holy Cross College to audition anytime during the year. You can find all the information you need to know about auditioning for the Folk Choir and other campus ensembles below. If you would like to familiarize yourself with some of the Folk Choir repertoire, please visit our Youtube channel.
Auditions for the Folk Choir take place during the general audition sessions for campus choirs. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 1-5pm, Sunday, August 25th from 2-6pm, and Monday, August 26th from 10am-10pm. All auditions will take place on the third floor of the Coleman-Morse Center. You can sign up for a time slot by clicking HERE - also, be sure to print out this PDF: 2019 Choral Audition Information Sheet, fill it out and bring it to your audition. The audition process consists of three parts: 1) an informal interview, during which, the director will get to know you: your personality, your interests, and your expectations of the Choir; 2) vocal exercises, warm-ups, and singing a well-known hymn tune; and 3) a short sight reading example. The audition lasts about 5-10 minutes and you are free to ask questions at any point during this time.
Though August 18-20th are our primary audition dates, we often accept new members later in the school year. If you have missed the August audition date, but still wish to audition or find out more about the choir, please contact our director. You can find out more about other campus ensembles below at their respective websites:
